ACER AL 1916W LCD Monitor Repaired

Post  tchtfly on Tue Jun 15, 2010 12:43 pm

This one was a pretty simple repair. The monitor turned on long enough to show the Acer logo and then shut off.

Checking all the capacitors I did not locate any visual problems. However I did find High ESR value to capacitors located at:

C200 - 25v 220uf 105c Repalced with 35v 220uf 105c
CE101 - 25v 220uf 105c Repalced with 35v 220uf 105c
CE102 - 25v 1000uf 105c Replaced with 25v 1000uf 105c
CE103 - 25v 1000uf 105c Replaced with 25v 1000uf 105c
CE104 - 10v 1000uf 105c Replaced with 16v 1000uf 105c
CE105 - 10v 2200uf 105c Replaced with 16v 2200uf 105c

After replacing these capacitors the SMPS secondary output voltages were all correct .The monitor was tested and so far has been behaving correctly.

Just curious, do you test for ESR in-circuit?

Hello Smason

I tested them out of circuit because I was going to recap the board anyway. They could of been tested easily in circuit.

Thanks
