Backlight for Monitors
I think I know this answer but just wanted to get your opinions. Why cant the manufactures of LCD computer monitors make the backlights more serviceable and easy to replace? Let me know your thoughts.

Re: Backlight for Monitors
Most computer LCD monitors under 24" have 2 pairs (upper and lower) of CCFL tubes that are not difficult to replace. Two CCFL's are enclosed in a metal casing which you pull out from one side. No need to disassemble the LCD panel. I know of 2 or 3 smaller monitors that came with one spare CCFL's. Don't remember the makes but I think they are all Japanese.
CCFL's usually last a long time (20,000-30,000 hours). 19" and smaller monitors will work satisfactorily with only one set of lights. But you need to re-wire the feed back circuit to fool the SMPS controller.
