Hi
Hi John, congrats on the forums, hope they're popular, looking forward to participating.
I've been interested in electronics for about 30 years, just recently got back into doing repairs after deciding I should stop sending dead LCD monitors and SMD power supplies to recycling, and try repairing them. Fixed a Dell LCD for a co-worker for $.066 worth of parts, so thought I'd continue. I just acquired 6 dead monitors and an LCD TV to kick off my return to repairing. Off to a bad start however, the first one (the TV) appears to be a bad microcontroller, I'll post my findings in the TV forum later. The second one, a Samsung LCD monitor also looks to be a difficult one, power supply checks out, could also be a controller issue, will continue troubleshooting and report on it as well.
More later,
Steve
